How CostChirp uses your data
Here’s what CostChirp stores when you browse, make a shopping list, or use an account.
Browsing and site requests
Browsing offers, searching products, and reading sale history do not require an account. Search terms are included in the page URL and sent to the site to return results. Avoid putting private information in searches.
When you load a page, image, or search result, the services that run CostChirp receive your request. They may keep logs that include your IP address, the URL you requested, and the time of the request.
Your shopping list stays in this browser
Your items, quantities, notes, and checked-off items are saved in this browser on this device. CostChirp does not send your list to a server or sync it to an account. Looking up a product still sends a request to CostChirp for its public offer details.
Remove items in the list to delete them, or clear this site’s browser storage to remove the saved list. Clearing browser storage can erase your list permanently. Other people using this browser profile may be able to see it.
Copy, print, and email-draft controls share the list only when you use them. An email draft opens your email app; you choose whether to send it.
Accounts and purchase records
Sign-in, registration, and saved purchase records are unavailable on this site. These pages do not collect account or receipt details.
You cannot upload, scan, or enter receipts on this website. Receipt capture and review are being developed for the phone app. Its cloud recognition sends images you select temporarily through CostChirp to Google Gemini, after you confirm. CostChirp saves only the purchase details you review. It does not retain receipt images, full recognized text, membership numbers, or payment identifiers.
Private receipt photos cannot be processed yet. Before that feature becomes available, CostChirp must complete a provider data-policy review and use a suitable data plan. Read Google’s Gemini API data terms.
Retailer information and questions
CostChirp displays retailer information for reference and is independent of Costco.
